Plattevile, Wisconsin. — More than 75 people attended a ceremony Friday celebrating the start of a $16.1 million redevelopment project in downtown Platteville.

The Library Block project will involve the demolition of six existing buildings and the construction of a new 22,000-square-foot public library and a 72-room Holiday Inn Express Hotel. The library block is bordered by Chestnut, Elm, Pine and Main streets.
